Zhang Daqian (Chang Dai-Chien，1899-1983), was first named Zhengquan, later renamed Mingyuan, also known by his zi (designated name) Jiyuan and hao (literary name) Daqian, born in NeiJiang, Sichuan. He was renowned for landscape and lotus paintings. Zhang created an immersive breathtaking, and magnificent scenery, which builds a strong visual impact. The unique technique – spilled ink that he invented has impressed the western art field, he was then known as the “Picasso of the East.”
