This workshop invites Ms. Guan Chaoqun, the curator of Madeln company’s "Physique of Consciousness Museum", to Long Museum. She will explain the religious background, original context and meaning of this new set of callisthenics – "Shape of Consciousness". She will also guide participants to experience this set of callisthenics. 

About Physique of Consciousness Museum

The Physique of Consciousness Museum is the first comprehensive museum in China to study human thought-behaviour-body language. It involves multiple interdisciplinary subjects, including anthropology, history, religion, sociology, psychology, and ergonomics, etc. The Physique of Consciousness Museum was founded in 2013, Shanghai by MadeIn Company, the most active art creation research institution in the Chinese contemporary art field, with Ms. Guan Chaoqun as the curator.

The concept of the Physique of Consciousness Museum began with a set of callisthenics - "Shape of Consciousness", organized by MadeIn Company in 2011. This is the world's first set of spiritual callisthenics, which combines practice, dance, broadcast exercises with spirit, thought, and culture. It is a fitness exercise that involves etiquette. The whole set of callisthenics contains more than 200 movements, of which more than 100 are collected by MadeIn Company. Typical movements related to sacrifice, worship and etiquette in human history, combining body movements, health care, and human thought system. 

MadeIn Company has actively started the preparations for the Physique of Consciousness Museum in 2011, researching and analysing more than 200 original exercises in callisthenics, and collecting relevant pictures and documents. These documents contain religions, cultural artworks and human stories from all over the world. It so far has collected more than 20,000 entries, 40,000 pictures and millions of words of text, from ancient Chinese myths, ancient Rome, to ancient Egyptian artworks, from medieval sculptures to contemporary art works and the humanities movement that is taking place now. It can be regarded as the important modern cultural research.

The Physique of Consciousness Museum will provide every participant with a new perspective on the spiritual heritage of mankind. The "Shape of Consciousness" will be exhibited in the form of a real-person coach, and will be made into a CD-ROM teaching material, with bilingual text introduction, available for online download, and made into a book publication for public distribution and promotion. At the same time, there is a manual book that records the religious background, origin and meaning of each action.
