In the summer of 2016, I curated the “International Women Artists Exhibition,” a group exhibition dedicated to women artists. The initiative emerged from my own personal journey as a woman and the evolving roles I experienced along the way. These changes sharpened my awareness of the opportunities and challenges faced by women today, and deepened my commitment to supporting the creative practices and growth of women artists. The success of “International Women Artists Exhibition” offered both encouragement and inspiration. Nearly a decade later, through continued discovery and reflection, I have encountered many more outstanding women artists, and am delighted to present a new international exhibition from my collection, featuring women artists from across the globe.

“Echoes of Her Century – A Global Exhibition of Women’s Art” brings together works by nearly 200 women artists from more than 20 countries and regions, spanning over a century from the early twentieth century to the present. The exhibition seeks to trace and articulate a hundred-year art history shaped and written by women artists. As early as the 1920s, women artists had already begun to emerge within the art world. Traveling across continents in pursuit of the foundations of Western painting, they not only produced a remarkable body of work, but also carried forward a radiant spirit of independence. By the mid to late twentieth century, amid the rise of pluralism and critical discourse, women artists developed artistic languages and creative practices of unprecedented diversity. Through painting, sculpture, installation, video, and other media, they engaged deeply with lived experience and pressing social concerns. Challenging entrenched and rigid conventions, they actively participated in the formation of new artistic and conceptual frameworks. Sincere, emancipated, independent, and self-aware, these artists articulate distinct voices of their own. Through this comprehensive presentation of their practices, the exhibition hopes to invite every visitor to encounter these artists, to sense their presence, to understand their work—and ultimately, to support them.

This exhibition resonates as an echo of pioneering women artists’ lifelong pursuit of artistic truth, while also extending the spirit of the 2016 “International Women Artists Exhibition.” As a woman museum director and curator, my commitment to women artists continues—to honor what they have already achieved, to accompany what they are realizing in the present, and to support what they still aspire to bring into being.
