2014.10.31-2014.11.9
Long Museum  West Bund

Organizer: Suzhou Yongyuanzhai Gallery

Artist: Liu Zhenxia

Liu Zhenxia, born in 1941, was the member of the 9th and 10th CPPCC National Committee. He was the chairman of Suzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles and is now a member of the Chinese Artists Association.

Liu Zhenxia is one of today's masters who unswervingly follow the traditional Chinese freehand realistic figure painting. As early as 1981, he became famous in the painting circle with his "Fisher Po". In order to allow himself to create more satisfying works, he remained as a recluse for decades. Fang Zengxian called Liu Zhenxia a strange man, Lang Shaojun said that his paintings are really moving. Cheng Shifa would exchange his paintings for him, and Wang Daohan would use his paintings as gifts.

In this exhibition of Liu Zhenxia's paintings, there are the classic "Fisher Po", the realistic figure painting "Mother" that can be compared with Luo Zhongli's oil painting "Father", there are village girls living along the south of the Yangtze River, and there are simple and hardworking farmers in the countryside and the honest Tibetan. His paintings are bright with heavy inks. He brought the exotic atmosphere of India to calligraphy and painting lovers, and also allowed researchers to see the future of realistic figure paintings.

Before his artistic achievements gathered dust, Long Museum discover Liu Zhenxia and make his works accumulated over the past few decades available to the public.
