Hosted by Beijing Council and the Long Museum, co-organized by CANS Asia Art News, "The Treasures of Chang Dai-Chien – His Daughter’s Collection" will open at the Long Museum (West Bund) on June 12, 2015.

Zhang Daqian is one of the most prestigious artists in the Chinese art world of the 20th century. He devoted his lifetime to the understanding, discovering, and revolutionizing of traditional Chinese painting. Mr. Xu Beihong himself asserted that Zhang was "someone you only see once in five hundred years." The theme of "the World of Daqian" brings together Zhang’s masterpieces from some of the most important periods in his life alongside personal letters collected by Ms. Xinrui, his daughter. Through these, we can begin to understand the artist’s elegancy and his love for his daughter.

Zhang travelled all over the world, coming into contact with people who became both teachers and friends. From this, we get the phrase: "Across the world there are only encounters and no farewells." The theme of "the Friends of Daqian" presents the masterpieces of Zhang Shanma, Li qiujun Xie Zhiliu, and other close friends whose works remain in Zhang’s collection. From this, we are able to witness Zhang’s life from a different point of view.

Mr. Zhang Daqian lead a fulfilling life; he had more than 20 disciples, each of whom started their own school of art, becoming leading figures in the Chinese art world. "Nurtured by Daqian" includes the best works of Daqian’s students, children, and descendants, focusing on the paintings of Zhang’s son-in-law Xiao Jianchu, Zhang’s daughter Zhang Xinrui, and Zhang’s son Zhang Baoluo. Da Feng Tang (Zhang Daqian’s studio) lives on.

In addition, in order to fully and vividly restore the spirit and life of Mr. Zhang Daqian, the theme of "the Artifacts of Da Feng. Tang" will exhibit his family treasures, ranging from daily objects to historical photographs, paying tribute to the master’s world.
